The Market School is precisely that: an informal school, not a sales pitch. If you are worried about your retirement accounts, pension fund, the credibility of your financial advisor or the current (indeed major) risks to your investments, then The Market School is here to help give you the basic knowledge on such matters as stocks and bonds, the advantages and disadvantages of mutual funds, ETF’s, annuities etc.

In your spare time and in the comfort of your own home, The Market School provides basic insight, lessons and substance so that you can take greater control of one of life's most important elements: your money. Given the immense market risks ahead, less control and confidence can have severe consequences. A few clicks and hours here can reduce, if not remove those concerns. Knowledge, not sales talk, is the best defense and offense in the markets we face today. Our aim here is to educate, not to sell; to inform, not to dazzle.

We are concerned about hidden structural risks (namely asset bubbles) in national and global markets that could deeply impact investor portfolios and threaten those not elsewhere exposed to the blunt-speak of experienced and credible financial veterans. We feel it a personal challenge to (at the very least) inform our Subscribers of the risks and opportunities ahead. No sugar coating.

We created The Market School because the financial industry has become a mediocre platform of marketing standardized advice and consensus-thinking expertise, where financial advisors spend more time selling products to clients than educating them. This is wrong. Furthermore, we don’t think that some of the more elegant risk-hedging insights, for example, should be reserved exclusively for just wealthy (accredited) investors or some smug inner circle of hedge fund types.

Far too many modest individuals (the true backbone of any economy), whether worrying about their 401K’s or handing over millions to fancy private banks, are largely in the dark about markets, portfolios and their own money - including the risks they are taking. An afternoon with The Market School and all our other free offerings will change that. We're giving you most of what we've learned in over 50 combined years navigating those the so-called “elite” towers. So, bring that laptop over to the couch and learn a bit more about investing and safeguarding your wealth. We’ve made all of this pretty easy.

The Market School is for everyone and does not discriminate across age, income level, education or experience. It is designed to be both visual and written, with simple definitions, white papers and videos.

The markets are no mystery, but many within it like to perpetuate this myth. At The Market School, you can post questions without having to feel awkward. Here, you can be yourself, click away and no one will give you that too-often condescending look so common to the financial industrial complex, pretending that its circles alone hold some extraordinary ability or impossible knowledge. In fact, markets and portfolios are a paper tiger—you can learn this stuff, even if today you can’t tell a stock from a bond, or an ETF from a mutual fund. In a few clicks, it will make sense.

Armed with more knowledge and a better understanding of the risks, you can go to your financial advisor, broker or friends armed with insight rather than anxiety, ask the right questions and be better equipped to judge whether the answers are smart talk or sales talk. Ultimately, our aim is that you trust yourself and your money without ignorance, fear or uncertainty.
